b. Well Supports Youth
At B. Well, we believe in the power of investing in our youth. This month, we’ve been on a mission to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of leaders by partnering with phenomenal organizations in our community. From teaching professional skills to addressing mental health, it’s been an impactful end to the year.
Here’s a deeper look at the work we’ve been doing and the lives we’ve touched this week:
Dress For Success With MecKed
First impressions matter, and we are doing our part to ensure Gen Z' feels confident and empowered in professional settings. During our first session with MeckEd, we taught students how to dress for success, modeling professional attire and why it’s important.
We partnered with Goodwill, giving students the opportunity to put together their own professional outfits. Watching these young people explore their style while learning how to present themselves with confidence was truly inspiring. It wasn’t just about the clothes—it was about preparing them to walk into any room and own it.
Mastering The Art Of Networking
Our second session with MeckEd shifted focus to another critical life skill: Networking. We kicked things off by teaching the fundamentals of a proper handshake (because let’s face it, a weak handshake can make or break that first impression). From there, we guided students in crafting elevator speeches that communicated their goals and values with clarity and confidence.
We also introduced them to tools for the digital age, including how to create virtual contact cards and optimize their LinkedIn profiles for maximum impact. We also touched on the importance of managing their social media presence to ensure it reflects their personal brand. By the end of the session, students left not only more prepared but more excited about the connections they’re building for their future.
Healing Trauma At Stradford Richardson
Life happens, and trauma is inevitable—it’s something every single one of us will face in some form. But how we deal with it? That’s a skill that can change everything. That’s why we partnered with the Stratford Richardson YMCA to lead a powerful session on understanding trauma and building tools for healing.
We started by breaking down what trauma is, how it shows up in our lives, and its effects on our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Then, we dived into coping mechanisms and practices that help us process and move forward.
It was amazing to see these students engage in conversations about such a sensitive topic, showing just how resilient and open they are to growth. Learning how to heal isn’t just a skill—it’s a lifeline.
Celebrating Leadership With Young Black Leadership Alliance
This month, I also had the privilege of facilitating a conversation for the Young Black Leadership Alliance (YBLA) in honor of the incredible work being done by John and Tammy Martin. Their new book, "We Built Leaders," chronicles their journey of building leadership programs that empower young Black students to become changemakers in their communities.
The event highlighted the impact YBLA is making in Charlotte and Atlanta, creating opportunities for students to rise as leaders. It was an honor to celebrate their journey and contribute to such a meaningful cause.
Partner To Empower Communities
At B. Well, we’re passionate about working with organizations that share our commitment to youth empowerment, mental health, and community wellness. These four events are just a glimpse of the work we do to inspire young people and help them succeed.
From life skills like dressing for success and networking to navigating the complexities of mental health and trauma, we’re here to ensure the next generation has the tools they need to thrive.
If your organization is looking to collaborate on impactful programming for youth, we’d love to work with you. Together, we can transform lives, one connection at a time.
