B. Well Celebrates One Year!

It was about this time last year that I discovered what I was supposed to do with my life. I was driving my Jeep, "Juicy," on 77 South, listening to my "Jesus Jamz" playlist on Spotify, singing the soprano, alto, and tenor part of some gospel song when it came to me: "Adrianne, you are supposed to support others in creating more loving lives." It just came to me. It was clear. I cried and I laughed and everything in me said, "Okay, God. I'll do it." I was overwhelmed, confused, excited, doubtful, sure, and, thrilled. In addition to the emotional flood I experienced, I also faced some hard realities: I was new to Charlotte, unemployed (I had been laid off from my job when the company tanked), and barely eating Trader Joe's groceries I bought with the 90-days of food stamps that the state gave me so I wouldn't starve and die while I didn't have a job. Yep. This was my life when I decided to start B. Well.

I was weeks away from celebrating my 30th Birthday at Carolina Beach with all of my friends and family. I had previously rented a big beach house for 2-weeks and couldn't get my money back even though I'd lost my job, so I decided we should party anyway...but now we'd have to party with purpose. My friends would have to help me start my business. After a big Sunday morning breakfast, I shared my vision for B. Well with my friends and family. They were immediately supportive. They said, "Adrianne! Coaching is PERFECT for you!" It felt great to know that they, too, could see what I was realizing: I was called to do this work.

That morning, I facilitated an activity that captured the B. Well experience. I shared, "I facilitate an opportunity for you to do the work, and you do the WORK!" I divided my friends and family into small groups and assigned them tasks to help me realize my vision. Together, we decided on a logo, found the right wording for the vision and mission statements, and we discussed pricing in a riveting debate. The topic was fun: "How much would seriously pay for a coach?" I left the beach with a solid idea of what I needed to do when I got home...

I enrolled in a coaching certification course, applied for my business license, secured an office space in uptown Charlotte (The picture below is of me the day I signed my lease at Level Office and they put my logo on the wall), and then an opportunity just kind of came. A lady from church informed me that an organization for girls was looking for a keynote speaker. She wanted to know if I'd be interested because, "for some reason I think you'd be perfect for this." So I spoke. A mother saw me speak at event and called a few weeks later, "Dr. Pinkney, I'd like to improve my relationship with my daughter and I think you'd be the perfect person to help us through this." Boom. I had my first client. Then a local community day event needed folks to facilitate workshops.

I volunteered. That day I met the activities coordinator for the Girl Scouts. We began working together. Boom. I had my first contract. I spoke at a school. A woman called me and said, "You spoke at my daughters school today and she can't stop talking about how great you were. I don't know much about what you are doing but if it makes my daughter feel that great I want to help. How can I support you?" Boom. God sent me a teammate. She helped me pull of my first event. Can you believe the website just launched in January of this year? So much has happened...the snowball keeps on rolling. It is no longer just my friends and family helping me, other angel people have come into my life and lifted me on his journey. They believed in me. They support my vision. I know you do too. Thank you for your love, light, references, positivity, and all the opportunities you send to B. Well.

I am amazed and humbled. I am grateful. Thank you for trusting us to serve you. Here's to the manifestation of a vision! Here we GROW!

B. Well!
